Laying Process on Cement Concrete

"This process is known as the Laying Process on Cement Concrete and below are some of the specification for this process.

Laying Process:

  • Levelling the base
  • Preparation of sub base
  • laying out the pavers

  • sweeping the stand (Grouting)


  • Concrete Pavers - 3.125 in. (80 mm)
  • Bedding Sand - 1.6 in. (40 mm)
  • Cement treated base - 27 in. (685 mm)
  • Min. 7% CBR (depth varies) lime/flyash injected natural clay subgrade

How to Lay Kerb Stones

  • 75 mm  cement concrete  1:2:4 ( 1 cement  2 course sand 4 graded stone apreegale 20 mm nomiral size )
  • Finish  with homogeneous layer of cement plaster 1 :1 ( 1 cement : 1 course sand )
  • Fixing with cement mortar 1 : 4  ( 1 cement : 4 course sand )

Technical Specification of Cement Concrete Pavers

"Cement used in the manufacture of blocks shall be 53 Grade Ordinary Portland Cement conforming to IS:12269-1987. Cement content shall not be less than 200kg/cu. m. of concrete. Aggregate shall conform to latest Indian Standard Codes. Washing of aggregate shall be done in an approved manner to the standards stipulated in the said I.S. Codes. Mixing or water shall conform to the latest Indian standards codes and tested in accordance with such codes.

Size and tolerance: Concrete paver blocks shall be of ''Crinkle-cut'' shape having a work size of 200x100x100mm and shall have a 6.0 mm. Peripheral chamfer on the top edges. The maximum dimensional  deviation from the stated size shall be as follows.
  • Length/width: +/-2.0mm.
  • Thickness: +/-3.0mm.

Compressive strength: The average compressive strength of blocks when tested in accordance with BS: 6717 part-1 1986 shall not be less than 30 N/sq. mm. For every 1000 sq. m. of laid area minimum 6 Nos. blocks shall be tested from a reputed laboratory as suggested by Architect.

Water Absorption: The maximum limit for water absorption shall be as follows:


  • 2% absorbed after 10 minutes
  • 5% absorbed after 24 hours

Bedding: Coarse sand/Aggregate bedding shall have a compacted thickness of 50mm. In conformity with B.S. 7533.
